I know a few people who were born in the month of August. One is my best friend and the other is my mother in law. I bring this up because they are the people I thought of when I saw this bracelet from Wal-Mart. It is called the 5-6 mm Cultured Freshwater Potato Pearls and Peridot Sterling Silver Bracelet. Don’t get me started on the name. Potato makes me think of Ireland, Ireland makes me think of green, green makes me think of peridot. I said, don’t get me started.
I have to say I like most of the jewelry Wal-Mart has to offer. I think it’s great that for $29.00 you can get a bracelet with some flash that is quality. It really helps bring nicer jewelry to the masses. It also makes more sense these days. Nothing is more ill conceived then paying a lot for a luxury item when most people are struggling to make ends meet. This bracelet would make a lovely and practical gift.
This brings me back to my two August birthday ladies. Who would I buy this for? The bracelet would be perfect for my best friend. She likes her birthstone and she likes colored jewelry. She likes to have pieces that match her outfit. It would make a great birthday or Christmas gift for her.
As for my mother in law, I would have to say yes also. Shades of green are her signature colors. The birthstone, plus the pearls makes the bracelet perfect for any age group. It would make an ideal Mother’s Day present.

Pearls are always elegant. Except when the designer tries to get fancy. Ordinarily, Majorica offers superb pearl jewelry. However i am going to have to vote not so this time. The Majorica “Ribbon” Man-Made Pearl Clip Earrings are more at the costume end of the pearl jewelry spectrum. It is a shame too, since they are clip on earrings. There really are not a lot of options when it comes to clip ons. Designers forget that not all people have pierced ears.
