Pearls are always elegant. Except when the designer tries to get fancy. Ordinarily, Majorica offers superb pearl jewelry. However i am going to have to vote not so this time. The Majorica “Ribbon” Man-Made Pearl Clip Earrings are more at the costume end of the pearl jewelry spectrum. It is a shame too, since they are clip on earrings. There really are not a lot of options when it comes to clip ons. Designers forget that not all people have pierced ears.
These pearls are attached to 18k gold vermeil. That is not a high end gold. It is one step off of gold plating. This is the ribbon design the name alluded to. The pearl sort of just sits on top. It looks a bit misplaced. This earring doesn’t look good coming or going.
I have a lot of pearl jewelry. I get most of it as gifts. If I got these earrings I would ask for the receipt to return them. I think that Majorica can do better. They had an opportunity to make something nice in a clip on. Instead, they added to the pile of mediocre costume jewelry.
The real crime is that these aren’t even cheap. At $145.00 they are completely overpriced. Don’t waste your money here. Instead see if you can find plain clip on stud pearls. At least they are classic and are hard to mess up. Of course, my opinion might not chime with yours.
